The main story can be completed in as little as 5 to 7 hours, but will take about 10-15 on average. The game consists of 20 main story missions, 30 combat oriented side missions, 74 collectibles (all of which are thankfully visible on the world map), and 24 rescue missions. You will gain many new abilities along the way which will help you achieve just that, as well as the tools needed to enjoy the Mordor sandbox to the fullest. The main goal is simple: Become stronger by completing missions and discovering treasures in order to kill The Black Hand and his followers. The gameplay itself consists of primarily third person hack and slash combat, with a spattering of stealth gameplay, mounted combat, and even some semi-first person shooting elements with a bow and arrow. Along the way Talion will assist various other humans he comes across but his main goal is retribution. The majority of the game consists of destroying the leadership that makes up Sauron’s army in an attempt to eventually reach the masterminds behind his own undoing. Along the way he is aided by a mysterious Wraith that grants him immense power. Sadly, a great tragedy befalls him and he is cursed by the minions of Sauron, forcing him to seek out revenge. The game places you in control of Talion, a Gondorian Ranger tasked with guarding The Black Gate. Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is a sandbox, fantasy action/adventure game, set within the same world and mythology of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings series’.
